Since its founding in 1979, Sungchan Food has been a traditional food manufacturing company dedicated to transforming traditional Korean rice puffs (gangjeong) into versions that appeal to modern tastes. Now run by the second generation, the company prioritizes customer trust and satisfaction over immediate profits.Guided by the founding principles of using honest ingredients, precise methods, and making with sincerity, Sungchan Foods
produces a wide variety of rice-based products—including 10 types of nurungji, brown rice snacks, sprouted brown rice snacks, and gangjeong—to capture the taste of global consumers. The company also contributes to promoting rice consumption and creating jobs.

History

1979 – Registered business name as Seongchan Food
1990 – Relocated to current factory in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do
1998 – Changed to current CEO
1999 – Installed first automated gangjeong (Korean puffed rice snack) production line
2004 – Built new nurungji (scorched rice) production facility and installed equipment
2005 – Entered Nonghyup Hanaro Club with nurungji products
2006 – Entered NewCore and Kim s Club with nurungji; exported instant nurungji soup to the U.S. ($40,000)
2007 – Entered Homever with nurungji; exported instant nurungji rice soup to the U.S. ($45,000); obtained traditional food certification from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (nurungji)
2008.05 – Began supplying nurungji to FamilyMart (CU)
2009.03 – Acquired ISO 9001 quality certification
2010 – Received citation from Gyeonggi Regional Small and Medium Business Administration
2011 – Selected as TOP10 excellent rice-processed product (Black Bean Brown Rice Snack); acquired G-Mark certification from Gyeonggi Governor; obtained germination technology patent for Job\\\\\\\'s tears
2013 – Received Minister s Citation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs
2014 – Acquired HACCP certification (MFDS); acquired organic processed food certification
2015.02 – Established R&D department
