Company introduction

Incheon Takju, which traces its origins back to Daehwa Brewery in 1938, was officially established in 1974 through the merger of 11 breweries in Incheon. Since then, the company has pursued scientific advancement in takju (unrefined rice wine), growing alongside the love and support of the Incheon community.
1980, Incheon Takju became the first in the industry to start producing rice-based makgeolli. In 1994, it pioneered the concept of sterilized makgeolli by introducing tetra pak packaging—a first in the industry—and subsequently became the first Korean company to export sterilized makgeolli. The company has continued to lead the way in liquor manufacturing and innovation.
2018, it acquired HACCP certification and began producing makgeolli in hygienic, certified facilities.
2023, Incheon Takju was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ “Visiting Brewery” program, offering customers hands-on experiences such as traditional liquor brewing.
The company’s representative products include Incheon Saengsoseongju and the premium makgeolli brand “Rice Is Naturally Sweet.

1974.05 – Established Incheon Takju Combined Manufacturing Plant No.1
1990.01 – Launched “Soseongju,” the first rice makgeolli in the takju industry
1992.08 – Developed and launched long-shelf-life pack rice makgeolli “Nongju”
1994.05 – Won Grand Prize in the liquor category at the 17th World Beverage Competition (Spain)
2010.11 – Released “Dureju” makgeolli made from Korean rice and wheat
2015.05 – Received the 1st Happiness Sharing Award (Ministry of Health and Welfare)
2015.11 – Established the Incheon Takju History Museum
2017.10 – Participated in Incheon United’s Blue Heart Race CSR campaign
2018.02 – Acquired HACCP certification
2020.03 – Founded the 1st Soseong Social Welfare Award with Incheon Social Welfare Association
2022.02 – Launched premium makgeolli “Rice is Naturally Sweet”
2023.04 – Won Grand Prize at the 2023 Korea Liquor Awards (9° Rice is Naturally Sweet)
2024.04 – Won Grand Prize at the 2024 Korea Liquor Awards (12° Rice is Naturally Sweet)
2025.03 – Won Grand Prize at the 2025 Korea Liquor Awards (1938 Soseongju)
